There cannot be enough thank you's to the men of FAST. It didn't matter where men called campus home they came in force to cook, setup, serve, and clean up all the while connecting with Kensington men who may be looking for a place to engage and lock arms. Apparent to me was the FAST guys not hanging out with each other but taking the time to meet men they didn't know, hear their stories, and break bread with them Saturday morning.
The food was fabulous and many thanks for FAST donating for the food costs. After breakfast there was a great round of Posse "paper, scissors, rocks" where "losers" had to cheer for the guy they lost to, every winner acquiring a bigger cheering posse along the way. Merlynn was a final four finalist for the Home Depot gift cards. After the excitement Steve Norman delivered a great message about engaging and locking arms with brothers. I believe he stole a line from Steve Buchan about who will be your "pall bearers" and confidants to share your life's struggles and celebrations with. Which men in your life, with similar values, will encourage, challenge, and support you throughout your walk? Steve Norman encouraged men to find a "home" in the different ministries and small groups at Kensington. Find those brothers to do life with.
Announced at the breakfast is the start of a Thursday evening DIG Bible study at Kensington Troy. So, for the men who balk at the idea to hit the 6:30am studies this will be a great opportunity for you. Details to follow after Easter.
This was a great event and hit on two of the FAST objectives:
- Men supporting other men on their spiritual journey through life.
- Men teaming together to serve.
Way to give it back FAST and "cast the net".
Matthew 4:19
New King James Version (NKJV)
19 Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
