Saving Food Plots !!!

Can anyone tell me the best way to protect a food plot from being ravaged by the Deer before the season starts ? We paid for a 1 acre food plot to be planted and are now afraid the Deer may eat it all before its time. Any suggestions on how to keep them away until Bow season ? Stringing fishline was mentioned to me as a way to deter them but this seems far fetched to me ???

  • Shoot them! Matt, they are supposed to eat it up now so that they return often, and benefit from the nutrients. The type of foliage that you planted most likely has a very good root system and the mowing down of the plants by the deer will induce the re-growth and make it sweeter and more palatable for the deer. Check out www.whitetailinstitute.com and post your question to them. They love to get questions like this. Plus I would love to know what they say.
