Well, salmon season has come and gone. We worked hard this year for the few that bit. Fishing was extremely tough. Fish were here one day and gone the next. We decided to head up north one more time before deer season took over our minds. I fished a little bit with my parents on the Ausable river and only managed one little steelhead. We did have some crazy awesome views.
On our last trip to the NW we finally found some fish. Only problem was, they were all on their beds and on there last leg of life before the cycle started all over again. We managed to get a few fish to "bite" if you want to call it that.
My buddy Calvin landed this king that had some red to it. I haven't seen that on a Michigan King in over 10 years. Pretty cool!
These colors on these browns are amazing. Last year I caught 2 browns over 20 inches. Hope we see more of these because they make up for a great little mix bag of fish.
Although the King run is just about over, unless you like fishing for river zombie. The steelhead are starting to come in slowly. Some much needed rain tomorrow will help the rivers get going. However, it's time to start thinking about deer hunting for the next 2 weeks. Little bucks are chasing around my neck of the woods and the big boys should be starting here soon. I found a good one on my trail camera a couple weeks ago in one of my areas.
I have a couple other areas that usually hold big bucks that I am hoping and praying will come through while I am on stand. I am practicing extreme patients and am staying out of my good spots until the "right" time. Hoping my patients pay off.
Good Luck this deer season guys!
