Free Seminars FREE TROUT SCHOOL SEMINARS Saturdays 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. These free seminars are given by Fishing Manager Rich Merlino who has over 30 years Fly-Fishing experience chasing fresh, warm and saltwater species. March 27th Teaching Others to Fly-Fish Whether it is a kid or an adult, teaching a new fishing partner the sport can be a challenge. We can get you on the right path. April 3rd Basics of Fly Casting Advanced casting only comes from a proper learning of the basics. This seminar is perfect for the beginning or intermediate casters. April 10th Advanced Fly Casting Techniques Do you want to know how to reach fish that are way out there as well as advanced presentation techniques? This seminar is for you. April 17th 10 am -2 pm One on Two Casting Lessons We will take two people per half hour outside to work on whatever techniques or skills they would like to hone. Good Skills! 2010 ONE-DAY FLY FISHING SCHOOLS Enjoy the beautiful surroundings at the Huntsman Hunt Club in Dryden, Michigan as you learn the skills that will reward you for a lifetime. Come join us for our one-day school where under the watchful eyes of Orvis instructors you will learn • Casting techniques • Essential knots • How to choose your gear and tackle • Stream entomology • Proper fly selection • How to read water • How to play, land, and safely release fish The classes start at 9:00 a.m. We will supply all the equipment and a fabulous lunch. A Continental Breakfast is available for students that arrive early. Bring a hat, sunglasses and clothes comfortable for the day's expected weather. Our class ends at 4:00 p.m. but feel free to test your skills on the Huntsman's bass pond. Cost of the class is only $235. April 25, May 2, June 6, August 29 and September 5 ***June 20th Parent/Child Class This is a great class to bring a youngster or a youngster to bring you. We suggest 10 years and older. Although all kids are different, any one that can enjoy 8 hours of instruction will gain a lot from this class. An adult must be present. Total cost for both parent and child is $335. Are you ready to take the "NEXT STEP"? Saturday, May 15. Our most popular intermediate school is almost sold out! Our class is taught by Orvis Royal Oak and the guides of Hawkins' Outfitters. It is designed for the angler that has already taken a beginners class or for those who are experienced and want to improve their skills. You will be taught the finer points of Dry, Nymph and Streamer fishing as well as advanced casting, wading safety, knots and fly selection. Your class is taught IN the Manistee River, so bring your waders. Cost of the class is only $89.
