Guys, just received this from Mark Biebuyck. Listen for God's voice. Craig
2 Cool Ideas came accross my desk recently, and I wanted to pass them on.
1) Easter Baskets
The first idea is that your group could partner the 70x7 Ministry, by making Easter baskets for their clients. Their Clients? Primarily women engaged in prostitution, and substance abuse. They also reach out to others engaged in various at-risk activities on the streets of Northwest and Central Detroit. The Street Outreach team uses a van as their mobile base. From the van they provide sandwiches, juice, hygiene kits, prayer and a list of referrals for services such as shelter, food, and rehab. Led by Donna McCauley, this group is on the front lines of reaching out to the fringes with the love of Christ.
- 1 Easter basket, any kind (The dollar stores usually have nice ones). Just Be Creative and have Fun!
- 1 wash cloth (please DON’T use any of the colored grass in the bottom of the basket, the people just throw it on the streets, a wash cloth would provide a nice cushion)
- Candy, any kind, as much or as little as you can provide. You can also add other treats like nuts, dried fruits, chips or whatever non-perishable item that strikes your fancy.
- There are really no limits as to how you can put your baskets together the only thing I ask is PLEASE don’t use the colored grass in the baskets. If possible please wrap the baskets in cellophane. Last year I found cute cellophane bags at the $ store.
- Please don’t write your full name or address on the card AND PLEASE NO MONEY!!
- In the past we’ve put hygiene items in the baskets but we are requesting that you don’t do that this year as we’d like to keep them gender neutral and full of treats.
- Pray over the baskets - It’s such a joy to see grown men and women cry when we give them an Easter Basket. So many of our clients never really had a childhood and they are tickled pink when we give them the basket and acknowledge the child in them.
- I will need the baskets BEFORE the week of April 15th.
- Contact Donna McCauley at 313-801-2204 so we can arrange pick-up/delivery, or if you prefer they can be dropped off at Kensington Troy campus in the little room by the West entrance Receptionist desk. If you do drop them at KCC can you shoot me an email at 70x7outreach@comcast.net , that way I will know to go by there and pick them up.

2) Medical Supplies
A group of people from metro detroit are looking for all kinds of people and groups that can provide, organize, and deliver free medical and dental care to individuals in Detroit and other hard hit areas like Pontiac, Inkster, downriver, etc.
While they are primarily looking for medical/dental/heath field professionals, they need lots of volunteers for intake, prayer, set-up, tear-down, and trucks to haul the trailers to each site. So, if you are one, or know of any medical/dental professionals...this is goint to be powerful and will extend well beyond the 40 Days of Gospel Saturation after Easter.
- If you are interested or know professionals in your congregations, please have them contact us at ConnectEACHtoCare@gmail.com.
