FAST Fishing & Fellowship Series #5 was kinda scarey! With thunderstorms in the area, we decided to fish anyway. Got out onto Lake St. Clair and began to troll for walleye. Only 40 minutes or so passed when we headed for safe harbours. We waited out the storm cell at the DNR boat launch at the end of South River Road. Jim Hartwick lives over there, and brought us some venison hunter sausage sticks to enjoy while we waited. Once the cell passed we headed back out and were able to reel in 4 walleye, a sheephead, and smallmouth. Here are the results!
Longest target fish (Walleye)....Paul Deciechi..........21 in.
Longest nontarget (sheephead)..Jim Petty..............19 in.
Mystery angler prize winner........Drew Yanke.......baitcast rod.
Drew was a trooper! I gave him a trolling pole with a heavier weight than Paul and I were using. (I didn't know it was that different.) Anyway, his pole was always grabbing the weeds on the bottom and making him think he had a fish on. He also got very wet because he didn't bring any rain gear. Not one complaint from him the whole time. We had a great time!
Next weeks event will be held at the DNR launch between Shook and Crocker on Jefferson. Check it out on the events page, and RSVP to join us. Alright now!
