What an evening of fishing & fellowship we had at this weeks FF & F series #5 event. This was an evening of firsts for a few of our fishermen. First things first, Mark Bunting caught his first ever Michigan Walleye. And what a walleye it was. It measured 27.5" and weighed over 8 lbs. (with the little scale we had at the time.) He has made the photo his profile photo, so go find his home page and check out that monster.
Next was my largest perch I have ever caught. It measured 13" and we took a photo of it with the yard stick next to Mark's walleye as well. But here is the real bummer of catching this perch. We all agreed, if no one in this event had caught a perch in the first hour, we would switch the target fish to bass. Marty called me at 6:04 and tells me no one has caught a perch on their boat or on Mark P's boat. So, we agreed to switch to bass. Hartwick in my boat says, "tell him 15 more min. and then we switch?". Well, Marty had already hung up and we just continued to fish. Less than 5 min. from that call, I caught the perch of my life. Ouch!
Ed Rosinski and Marty caught some great bass. Bill Petrusha and Mark Prokop also landed their fair share. Hartwick and Mark Bunting both caught a perch, and then the winning non-target fish from Mark showed up. Great time with all of you. I look forward to next weeks series #6 event!!
Here are the numbers;
3 boats, 7 anglers.
Longest target fish.(bass)......Mark Prokop =$35
Longest non-target fish.(27.5" walleye) Mark Bunting=$35
no smallest fish prize this week
First to limit out.....carry over. (new rod)
Next week's series will be at the same launch, but for the BASS! The more boats and anglers, the bigger the prizes! And just ask any of these guys, the bass are everywhere out there. Next week will be a very exciting tournament to attend. And I bet it will be a very close finish! Alright now!
Jimma'!
