Event Description

We are hoping to develop on this past years successful BBQ & Blues Festival by tying back in the Blessing of the Bikes and possible a Car Show in 2017. We will need a lot of help to pull this off successfully. Our goal is to have the event some time in June, (possible the Saturday of Fathers Day weekend). Please share your thoughts, ideas, and interest you may have in helping with this event. Thank you!

Looking for additional competitors. We are going to keep it simple on the BBQ side: ribs & chicken. It should take about six hours to smoke. No fancy equipment required. But you will need to get there by 8 cause turn in time is around 3-ish.

Wanna learn how to judge bbq? I will be the head judge and I will quickly train you on the judging criteria (per KCBS). You will need to be there by 1:30 pm.

Call me if you have any questions (248-840-2983). I will have Black Betty smoking pork butts & beef briskets - which will be used on Kids In Camo (scheduled for the 24th). If you want to know how to smoke butts & briskets, come anytime in the morning. Or you can drop by to ask questions about Kids In Camo (and yes we have room too)

It's a beautiful Sunday afternoon .... I just wanted to set out there some of the planning that has been going on behind the scenes in regards to this years "HOLY SMOKE" BBQ, Blues, Bikes and Bumpers Festival:

#1 - BBQ Competition - with some great food to be shared by all. If you interested in competing, please contact me directly and I can provide you with the information you'll need.. Please share with your friends and family we could use a few additional teams at this point.

#2 - Blues Music - This year we will have (2) live Blues Bands performing starting at 11 am and playing throughout the day. Should be some great entertainment ...

#3 - Blessing of the Bikes - a couple of our pastors have asked that we add this great event into ours this year. I believe the plan will be to meet at the Troy campus for the blessing before 10 am and then a ride that culminates at the festival in the early afternoon to enjoy the music and food ...

#4 - Car Show - This year the Full Throttle team will be hosting a car show / show and shine, event during our event. Great fun for all. If you have a car that you would like to show off, please contact the Full Throttle team to reserve your spot.

If anyone would like to donate some of your time to this event we could always use your help. Please try to make the FAST meeting next week on Tuesday the 16th at 6:30 pm, (Troy Campus).

If you have additional questions or needs please feel free to contact me directly.

Based on schedules of the pastors, and the "Kensington Master Calendar" we are locking in on June 17th. As soon as the June 17th date is confirmed we will make a final announcement.

I don't see why not Jon. The thought of fathers day weekend just got thrown out there. My only concern is weather, the earlier we set the event the worst chance of bad weather we have, but I don't think an extra weekend early in June would matter. Due to the proximity to the WGD I don't think May would be enough time to put this together. Just my $0.02.

Mark - is there a way we can have this event earlier in June or even May? Reason: Kids in Camo will be the weekend after and that might jeopardized FAST volunteers for either weekends.
